What a great read! This was definitely an adult book! I have been reading so many young adult books lately, this was a little shocker at some of the steamy romantic scenes. Sookie Stackhouse is the main character. She is a waitress that often keeps to herself because she can read people's minds. She meets and falls in love with a vampire named Bill. He seems to truly love her, but something is very mysterious about him. I have a feeling there is much more to tell about his character as the series continues. It is a series on HBO, and I want to get it now so I can watch it. My neighbor said she tried to watch it once, but it was SCARY. This read was definitely more intense than Shiver or Intertwined. If you are looking for a good ADULT vampire read, this is the one!
I did like this book, but it felt very provincial Twilight~ "Volturi" and all. Not sure if this would be the chicken or the egg, but a clear precursor to Meyer's concept. I really liked Sookie though, a complex character with some depth and emotion combined with some just frivolous fun. I liked it. :)
ReplyDeleteSo this one is scary?! I don't know about it - sounds a bit frightful. ;)
ReplyDeleteI didn't really feel the book was all that scary, but supposedly the show is. I haven't read Twilight so I can't say about the connection. I will let you know what I think!
ReplyDeleteI have read all but the last book (I think there are 10)and I have seen the first season of the tv show. The entire first season is made up of the first novel. I was very suprised that they could extend that much material to make up all of the episodes. I really dont think it is that scary...it is typical HBO.
ReplyDeleteIm just waiting for the last novel from the library. The supernatural world is definitely larger in these novels than in "Twilight."
