Possible Read

I absolutely love books set in histroical time periods(especially if it is set in England...which explains why Pride and Prejudice is my favorite novel :) If you enjoy that as well and also want a little mystery and a strong female character who does as she pleases, check out Tasha Alexander's Lady Emily Series. There are currently four books (the fifth comes out in the fall) which starts with And Only to Decieve. I have found that the books get better as you travel through the series!

Happy reading!

  1. I love Pride and Prejudice, too~ often referred to as my favorite books. Funny story... Have you seen this book with the skeleton pride and prejudice lady on the cover? I had a boy this year ask me if that current twisted edition (again haven't read it) was by the same author as the original Pride and Prejudice! Just smile and nod. :) And Only to Deceive... I will definitely pick that up (next) just started Shiver.

  2. I have seen the Pride and Prejudice with the skeleton on the cover. I have never picked it up for fear that it would ruin my favorite book, but maybe I should take the leap :)

  4. Too funny! Did you like the movie? Someone told me not to see it because I wouldnt like the ending :(
Speaking of movies...I watched "Leap Year" (With Amy Adams) last Friday...I kept talking it up to my mom...saying how great and cute it was...I was telling her the whole storyline. About halfway through I realized that I had NEVER seen it! I felt like a total dork!!! I dont know what I was thinking!
Are we still planning on going to see "Eclipse" together? I am trying to figure out my calendar and I want to make sure that I get to go to our Twilight Adventure as long as it is still on!
Last thought...I think I told you that I had a old school Catholic wedding to go to...I had to wear a hat/veil to go in the church...I cant wait to talk to you about it :)

  5. That is old school! I can't wait to hear about it. I haven't seen Leap Year, but I've heard that it is good. Did you end up liking it~ your second first time? Re: the H.Hogan movie... I never finished it. I fell asleep! Wimpy! Okay, finally to the real business... :) Ecplipse HAS to be on, and let's do it big. I've questioned myself and my endurance after the last one, but it's on!!! We'll talk, but I guess we better get tickets sooner rather than later, and I can't wait to hear how your last masters stuff is going and went this summer. Missing you! Great news from Leslie!!! Later...

  6. Wow! You guys have way too much time on your hands! :) I am trying to go through and read all these. Yes, great news from Lesley but sad for us. Ted emailed me last Friday to let me know, so as soon as he calls me to interview, I will let all of you know! Hope you are having a great summer. I planned to start Shiver tonight but don't know that it will happen.

  7. And, I just realized this thing is off by two hours since it is 9:18 when I am typing, not 7:18. That makes me feel better. I almost fainted when I saw a post from someone at 5:40 in the morning! Monica, you must be book girls of katy, right?

  8. Stacy, I am book girls! :) How's Twilight going? I'm strugling to get through Shiver. I like it, but it's a slow read for me. Are you into that read yet? Hope your summer is off to a great start.

  9. I just got back from the library and checked out 2 Agatha Christie books - the Miss Marple series. I read one last week and it was so great! :) It made me see why she is the #1 mystery writer of all time! I have not heard of these new books, but I am interested. I LOVE Pride and Prejudice! It is my favorite book, too! I will make a note and look for these at the library.

  11. Monica, just reading this - sorry. I loved Shiver. I did think it was a little slow in the beginning, but then it didn't take long to get into it. Have you finished yet?

  12. Re: Shiver...

Ugh! NO. I CANNOT get through that book. It's my new nemesis! It's not that I don't like it, but I just haven't gotten any good just sit-and-read ops to really enjoy it. Getting closer though. :)
